The German underground hospital in Jersey is a unique and chilling environment, comprising a series of inter-linked tunnels excavated under terrible conditions by workers brought in from all over Europe. Its purpose was to accommodate German casualties in anticipation of an allied invasion. As an exhibition centre it now presents the whole wartime experience of the Jersey population. The 'Whispers and Lies' area graphically describes how people might 'tell' on their neighbours to the occupying force, through a combination of illustration and text with voices, some loud, some soft, coming from the graphic panel itself. This effectively demonstrates the exciting opportunities now available to the museum, visitor attraction and exhibition industry to simply and unobtrusively combine sound with visual messages of any size.
