In
the second program of this season’s Grand Designs series,
Alex & Cheryl Reay rebuilt and remodeled their thatched
cottage that had previously been destroyed by fire. In doing
so, the Reay’s selected Amina Plaster in-Wall speakers
to provide a through home entertainment system that would
not compromise their design requirements.
The speakers were especially relevant
to Alex and Cheryl Reay’s Dairy Cottage renovation:
Cheryl is an A&R professional in the heart London’s
music industry and having fabulous sound in their recreated
home was essential. Equally important to them was to retain
the elegance and style of their cottage interior.
The installation process was filmed
and Alex did a whole piece to camera with Kevin McCloud. Alex
explained " I had to convince my plasterer, Bob, to skim
over it. He thought it was a set-up! ” Alex continued,
“ I don’t think anyone on site at Dairy Cottage,
especially Bob, believed it would work.
But after we heard it Cheryl and I
decided to fit them in every room except the bathrooms. Cheryl
uses them regularly when listening to mixes for work or when
we are just relaxing to music.”
Alas for Amina the Director decided
that being such a 'hidden product' it was too difficult to
put across, so the tape was consigned to the cutting room
floor for the final edit.
“I suppose instead of Grand Designs
Trade Secrets they were Grand Designs Best Hidden Secret on
the Dairy Cottage Project! Definitely our best purchase on
the project...." concluded Alex.
We look forward to seeing you at the
show to discuss more great case studies using Amina Plaster
In-Wall speakers.
